I’m not a sports fanatic. I don’t watch sports year-round. I can’t even tell you who plays on what team. And the only athlete that comes to mind who is currently playing on a team is Tim Tebow. But I am #TeamAmericaRio2016. Despite my lack of understanding when it comes to sports, I understand what’s going on and why each top competitor is winning.

Usain Bolt is no different. I am #TeamAmericaRio2016 but after seeing the sportsmanship of Usain versus that of America’s own Justin Gatlin, I immediately had a feeling how the race was going to turn out. I also enjoyed watching Usain’s confidence, playfulness, humanity and love for the sport.

And that’s the best part about the Olympics. Watching athletes show their humanity along with displaying the reasons for which they are “the best of all time” or “the first to win an individual medal”. Most of the athletes have shown great team spirit, patriotism but not cockiness.

You can’t beat that.

So here’s to Usain Bolt. #TeamAmericaRio2016 didn’t win this one, but it’s hard to be mad about why.
