A New, Single Me

John 3: 5, NLT “Jesus replied, “I assure you, no one can enter the Kingdom of God without being born of water and the Spirit”

Today I had a water submersion baptism after our Easter Sunday service. I attend New Life Providence Church and the consideration of this baptism has been swimming around in my spirit since February – since I heard one of the pastors talk about how the experience was like leaving your old self in a watery grave. I guess that appealed to me because just a few months ago I found myself wanting/needing something new from God. Not something material. But something of me that was new for Him. I’m sure that I made the right decision. A few people from work were there with me through the whole process. And I even ran into some of my life group friends (picture to the right) afterwords who WAITED for me to come out when they saw me!

If you’re familiar with my story, you know that I was a HOT, SINGLE MESS just a few years ago. Didn’t know who I was. Didn’t understand God. I surely didn’t trust Him. And I could not understand for the life of me why I was still single. But as God started to change me, I realized that so many women – for one reason or another – get in their own way when it comes to being found by the love God has for them. If that’s you, all you need to have something new is to decide that you want God to do something new in your life.

I’m not saying you have to commit to a water submersion baptism. I will say that when I came out of the water I knew I was officially in a new season of my life. I knew God had something new, better for me than I could dream up for myself.
