“HELP! I’ve Moved On to Someone Else, But is God Telling Me to Go Back to My Ex?”
So I want to share a question I received from one of the ladies in my Let’s Talk About It Community. I believe her dilemma is one that MANY single, dating Christian women face: did I do the wrong thing by breaking up with my ex?
Now, you’ll note how I answered her below. But at the root of her dilemma is an issue that I will address in my next blog post. For now, check out my answer to “I’ve moved on from my ex and am dating someone else. But is God telling me to go back to my ex?”
Hello Afi thank you for the wonderful articles and videos i am comforted and being encouraged. I have a situation at hand which i would like your input. There was this guy that i was dating but we are not anymore, I am dating someone else now.
But recently i have been thinking about the guy that i had stopped dating i cannot seem to get him out of my mind so i prayed about it. I ask God to show me a sign or give me a dream as to what to do because i want to move on with my life.
I dreamt that the guy was telling me how sorry he was for not talking to me and that he would like us to start over.
So my question to you is this. Do you think that the Lord is telling me that he is gonna come back into my life?
I await you response.
Hi!
Happy holidays and I pray that you are making the most of this season and expecting God to do BIG THINGS for you today and in your days to come.
Okay…so here are a few things I want to address to help you…
First, I can’t answer as to whether or not God is speaking to you through that dream. I do believe that God can speak to people – especially Spirit-filled believers – through dreams. But for your particular situation, the only person who can determine whether or not God spoke to you through a dream is you.
Second, what I DO believe is likely happening with you is that you’ve moved on physically from your ex because you are dating someone else, but your mind, heart and spirit are still on your ex. That’s a soul tie. And in order to really move forward with the next man and be present in that relationship in a way that honors God, we have to break any existing soul tie to previous lovers or boyfriends.
Third, what could have been happening in that dream is that some part of you wants your ex to apologize for what he’s done. I can’t say that for certain, though, because I would need more information about your situation.
So finally, I’m going to say this to you and please do not take offense because I was definitely once where you were. You say in one sentence that you want to move on, and then you want to know if there’s any possibility that your ex will come back into your life. You’re double-minded and when you’re in that state the Bible tells us we shouldn’t expect anything from God. You have to choose…do you want to move on? And are you willing to do what’s necessary to move on?
If you need to talk with me one-on-one for more assistance or clarity, just e-mail me back and we’ll figure out what resources I have available that can help you.
I’m looking forward to hearing back from you!
Afi
